There is a pre-selection procedure for the Production Dramaturgy major, which is open to all applicants who meet the requirements of the programme.

After the closing date for applications and at the request of Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule, applicants must submit a portfolio of work samples within a specified period of time as listed below:

a production concept in German
at least 2 specifically written texts on different music theatre productions.

For the production concept, applicants who meet the requirements for the course and take part in the pre-selection will receive a list of works from which they can freely choose a work for the production concept to be submitted. The university will inform you of the results of the pre-selection in writing via the application portal

Procedure

Please upload the German-language written concept to be submitted (in PDF format) in your application on Muvac.

Requirements Concept

From a list of music theatre works to be announced after the application deadline, a piece is to be selected for which a written concept must be submitted by the deadline given in muvac.
The concept elaboration should be 4 to 8 pages long.
Attached layouts, drawings and photos of the imagined features are explicitly welcome.

Audition Exam Process	The entrance examinations for the Master's degree in Production Dramaturgy for Music Theatre are held at the invitation of Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule and consist of the work samples submitted with the portfolio a comparison of approximately 30 minutes between two different stagings of a scene chosen by the Commission from the musical theatre work announced in the invitation to the entrance examination. The two productions of the given scene to be compared must be between 5 and 10 minutes long and must be available as audiovisual recordings. The different productions of the scene are played twice to the candidates. Candidates will then have at least 30 minutes to prepare individually for the test. Internet-enabled devices such as mobile phones are not permitted during preparation and must be handed in if brought, a technical discussion on the application.
