Requirements	Advanced musical ability in the programme subject which must be demonstrated in the audition exam Foreign applicants who do not have a German university entry permission must possess sufficient knowledge of the German language. The following requirements must both be met in order to provide proof: Presentation of a language certificate of level B 2.2 according to the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The Language certificates must be submitted during enrolment at the latest. In the music theory examination, applicants must prove that they have sufficient programme-related German language skills for communication and study.

Procedure	For the pre-selection the platform muvac is used. On muvac you can upload video and audio recordings in the course of your application at the HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin. Based on the uploades audio/video recordings the pre-selection is made subsequent to the application period.
Requirements Recordings	A video recording of 10-15 minutes with the highest possible recording quality. The recording does not have to be taken in one take, single recordings are permitted. No cuts may be made within a movement/piece. The videos must not be older than one year and may contain works from the prepared examination program.
Requirements Repertoire	1 movement each from 2 works from different epochs of different character, one of which must be from the Baroque or Classical period. They can also be violin concertos or virtuoso pieces. It is also possible to play only parts of the works.

Audition Programme	Three works of various styles following the guidelines below: the opening movement from a concerto of the 19th/20th century or a virtuoso piece comparable to Saint Sa?ns' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" a movement from a Sonata or Partita for Violin Solo by J. S. Bach or a concerto movement from the First Viennese School a work of your choice (no sonatas for violin/piano)

Compulsory Exam Compositional Technique (written exam)	Knowledge of treble and bass clef (also C clef, if applicable) Knowledge of key signatures in major and minor Determining and notating intervals in various octaves Knowledge of major and minor scales, including modes Determining and notating triads (major, minor, diminished, augmented) and dominant seventh chords, including their inversions Recognizing and writing different types of cadences (authentic, plagal, half and deceptive) in various keys Realizing a simple figured bass in four parts Harmonic analysis (Roman numerals and German functions) Formal and compositional analysis of a short musical example (or excerpt)

Transfer Applicants	Applicants for undergraduate studies who have already studied at a RKM-recognized German music school and are applying to transfer to HFM are exempt from taking the exams in piano, composition, and ear training if they are able to provide a matriculation certificate/certificate of enrolment.

Programme Duration	Participation in Junior Scholars ends at the age of 18, unless he or she has not completed their schooling. If this is the case, participation will end in the semester that he or she completes schooling.

Audition Programme

The audition exam is composed of two parts:

two works from at least two stylistic epochs
examination of instrumental technique

The works are to be selected by the applicant and should be age and skill-appropriate.
