Symphony Orchestra
The Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin¡¯s symphony orchestra is composed of instrumental students and regularly performs public concerts. In Berlin, the orchestra plays at the Konzerthaus at Gendarmenmarkt and at the Berliner Philharmonie. Prof. Hans-Dieter Baum directed the orchestra from 1979 to 2001 and Prof. Christian Ehwald has taken on conducting since 2002.
The orchestra has worked with guest conductors such as J¨¢nos Czifra, Alun Francis, Peter G¨¹lke, Lutz K?hler, Marc Piollet, Sir Simon Rattle, Rolf Reuter, Helmuth Rilling, Hanns-Martin Schneidt, J?rg-Peter Weigle and Sebastian Weigle. Alongside their concert activities, members of the symphony orchestra also perform in the school¡¯s opera performances.
In a series of public workshops, the symphony orchestra has also worked with internationally renowned conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Seiji Ozawa, Sir Simon Rattle and Christian Thielemann.
